The New M4 is the first underground section of WestConnex in Australia. It connected to the widened M4 and extent it via twin motorway tunnels from Homebush to Haberfield with three lanes in each direction. The New M4 alleviated the frustrating delays and gridlock that motorist’s face daily when they came off the M4 and hit a standstill on Parramatta Road. The project is about 6.5km long (with 5.5km of the motorway in tunnel).

The New M5 provide twin underground motorway tunnels, 9km long, from Kingsgrove to a new St Peters Interchange at the site of the old Alexandria landfill facility. The St Peters Interchange provide motorists with connections to Alexandria and Mascot. It also includes connections to the future Sydney Gateway and M4-M5 Link. The New M5 tunnels marked for two lanes in each direction, with capacity to add a third and also include underground connection points for the M4-M5 Link and the proposed F6 Extension. Local streets and intersections around the St Peters interchange are also being upgraded to ensure safe and efficient connections for the New M5.

TROX provides services of design, supply delivery and technical assistance of TROX type “JFM” Fire and Smoke dampers for both M4 and M5 projects. TROX JFM dampers not only complied with the technical requirements of installation of the dampers, but also match the overall visual appearance of the Tunnels by having the dampers painted matte black. The dampers were also specially designed and built to have a customized walkway and drainage system.

TROX JFM dampers provides a comfortable and safe in the underground platform. TROX JFM dampers creates an excellent solution for dampers that be installed under tunnel and ventilation station environment which considered as a humid, damp, contaminated environment. TROX JFM dampers are tested in accordance with Australia standards of AS1530.4 for fire rating and 1682 for smoke mitigation. TROX JFM dampers are also fully tested before delivery to site to ensure the best quality of dampers is being delivered to the customer.
