Since 2010, TROX Malaysia has supplied over 65,000 units of chilled beams and is on track to reach our next milestone of 70,000 units next year. Notable projects include the International Tower Sydney, China Trust Bank in Taiwan, Science Park 3 in Hong Kong, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, and Seoul University Hospital. Recent sales trends indicate a significant increase in chilled beam installations over the past two years, primarily driven by demand from Australia, Singapore, and Hong Kong. This growth in the Asian market can be attributed to a strong emphasis on sustainable building practices and governmental legislation mandating the adoption of energy-efficient standards.


Chilled beam systems are increasingly recognized for their contributions to sustainable building practices. Their improved efficiency and lower total cost of ownership make them attractive options for building owners and consultants aiming to comply with evolving government regulations. While promoting chilled beams, some consultants may be reluctant to adopt the system due to limited project experience. Therefore, early engagement in a project is essential for any tender bid. Successful implementation requires extensive collaboration from design to execution. Maintaining open communication with the project owner and working closely with the consultant is crucial to educate clients about the benefits of the system and provide valuable design expertise. Additionally, the sales cycle—from project initiation to order fulfillment—is significantly longer for chilled beams compared to most products offered by TROX Malaysia. This makes it vital to keep the project pipeline filled. 


One effective way to educate the market and drive chilled beam sales is through product promotion seminars aimed at consultants. Earlier this year, to enhance understanding of chilled beam systems, TROX Malaysia and Dico Aerophil hosted a special event in Manila titled “TROX Chilled Beams and Control Systems." We invited local building owners, developers and MEP consultants to a technical seminar and product showcase. 

At the event, we set up a mini showcase featuring variable air supply to chilled beams, demonstrating the TROX X-Air Controller. This controller centralizes information on air and water control devices, including condensation sensor status, VAV airflow readings, damper positions and room temperature. Attendees came away with confidence in the system after witnessing its rapid response and performance in delivering comfortable air conditioning.In conclusion, the rise of chilled beam systems in the Asia-Pacific region marks a significant shift towards sustainability. As demand for energy-efficient solutions grows, TROX is committed to supporting this transition with innovative products. By fostering collaboration among stakeholders and enhancing market education, we can address consultant hesitations and ensure successful project implementation, aligning with the region's aspirations for a sustainable future.
